Introducing Mary

Hi. I'm Mary and I am so excited to be a part of this blog! I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I am done. I am sick.of.it. I want to be healthy and happy and I know that eating right and exercising can help me accomplish those goals.

As you will quickly come to see through my posts, I'm a Jillian-Michael's-a-holic. It's true. I listen to every word that woman says like it's scripture. Ok, maybe not that intense, but I may mention her once or twice when I post.

With that in mind, when I was sick and tired of carrying around this baby weight (can you still call it that when your "baby" is 2 years old and you're still fat?) I turned to my friend Jillian. I said, "Jillian? I am done. I want my body back. How do I get my lazy behind off the couch and get motivated?" I thought back to a video I had seen of her on Youtube where someone asked her this very question and I loved her response so much I thought I'd share it here with all of you!

Here are her tips for getting off the couch:

1. Think of the reasons why you want to get off the couch. There are no reasons that are too profound or too shallow, they are all good reasons.

2. Put it on paper! Attach yourself to your goals and dreams.

3. Now ask yourself: Do I want to sit on the couch or do I want the things on my list and how do I get them? This is where the action part comes in.

That is my challenge to myself and to all of you! Sit down tonight and really think about why you want to lose weight or get healthy, commit to those goals, and put a plan into action to accomplish them.

Have you read Jillian's book Master Your Metabolism? I've read it twice. That's how much I love it!
