"Hello, my name is Bruce"

{Bonus Points if you know what that line is from.}

Hello. My name is Mary, and I am a food addict and an emotional/stress eater. Phew! Feels good to admit that. I have been doing so great, my trainer says "I'm on fire!" I knew Thanksgiving vacation visiting family would be hard so I planned for it and I did really well for the first few days, and then Thanksgiving hit. And I let myself eat whatever I wanted "just for that one meal." And then the next day I had more pie, and then it was ice cream, and then In-n-Out, and then...well you get the idea.

I really am an addict, I'm starting to realize that. Just like you would not hand a recovering alcoholic a bottle of vodka and say "here, you can have some just tonight" I should not have told myself I could just do whatever I wanted for a day. I know better than that!

I was watching an old BL season and the doc was saying it takes weeks to retrain your brain to eat small portions, know when to stop, eat healthy, etc. But it only takes a couple days to retrain it back to those bad old habits. I knew that and yet I just kept on going and it snowballed. I can feel that I've gained a few pounds and that makes me sick.

But no more. No more snowball. Today, right now, I am recommiting. I am going to learn from my choices and then I am not going to look back and feel guilty, but rather take what I have learned and work even harder.

No Thanks, Thanksgiving

I am up like 3 pounds thanks to last week.
I knew it would be a loser.  But it's done, and now I can refocus.
A lot of it was working night shift and being tired is my arch nemesis.

A big part of weight loss is getting back to the wagon when you've fallen off.

Down baby.

Down about a pound and a half.  Sure, the stomach flu helped, but once I felt better from that I was just WANTING a lot of really bad food.

That didn't help.

But I stayed strong and I'm glad I did.

Is it biggest loser weight loss?  no.  But it'll do.  I must admit I don't have super high hopes for this week, but we'll see how it goes.

Weigh in

Newsflash. The stomach flu totally helps with weight loss.
Have you heard?
Also, still not really wanting to eat.
What a shame that i , at one point, thought I had vomited my intestines. :
Good blogin', no?
On sat. Morning I was down about a pound, I think. Stay tuned for this Saturday. :)

Weekly Weigh In

So, my official weigh in day is Saturdays.  But I started WW last Tuesday and I didn't actually weigh in that morning because I was supposed to go to work.  Anyway, long story short, I'm not sure how much I lost.  But, I will have a better idea next week.  So, that's good.  I think I lost about 3 pounds... give or take.

I do feel better, I like having my food budget, somehow I find comfort in it.  Most of the time. :)

If anyone likes the food journals I'll do them from time to time... it's nice to know what people are eating, just kind of to gauge my own.  I know I think my head I always thought I was eating well... but then I wasn't -- and I think if I'd read some one's food journal I might have realized that.

And I might not have. :)

Hope everyone's having a great week!

WW Day 2 and 3

Each day it seems to get a little easier.

Now, I should tell you I have a totally mathematic brain.  I love counting things.  This system works really well into me.  I like budgeting out my day.

So, yesterday

I had

This massive egg concoction that was 8 points (I worked out yesterday and I try to use any workout points I get right in the AM after I Work out so my body feels well nourished)
Nuts and fruit (1 pt)
Hummus and pita chips (2 pts)
Popcorn (6 pts)
Kalamata olive chicken and beans (14 pts -- still not sure why this is so high, but c'est la vie!)
nuts and fruit (1 pt)

Voila.

Today I ate
Peanut butter on bread (5 pts)
Some pumpkin seeds (1 pt)
Small portion of pumpkin cobbler (5 pts)
Popcorn (6 pts)
Shrimp quinoa (8 pts)

The quinoa is chilling right now, this leaves me with 4 more points.  I'm not sure what I'll do with 3 more points.... and I'll have my obligatory fruit and nuts before bed.  Maybe a cheese stick, and some extra nuts?

WW involves a lot of planning, and this really has been an eye opener.

I hope this is helping someone.  I secretly want to know what everyone's eating.

WW Day #2

Just giving a quick update.  Yesterday I ate
  • Smoothie (4 pts)
  • Fruit and nuts (1 pt)
  • Miranda Sandwich (8 pts)
  • Popcorn (6 pts)
  • 2 Tacos (10 pts)
  • Apple (0)
  • Fruit and nuts (1)
I earned 2 workout points, so I ended-up using all of those.

I will say that in my head I think I thought I was pretty well following the program.  Turns out, I wasn't.  You actually have to count points, to count points.  It's not that hard, and I WAS eating when I wasn't hungry.  And I don't want to do that.

I do want to eat all of the pumpkin cobbler that is just steps away in the kitchen.

But I won't.

So far, so good!

Welcome to November

Alrighty.  October was supposed to be my month to get back on track.  I was going to go on my modified WW plan that worked last time (things I usually eat on weight watchers, but I didn't measure, etc).  Turns out, that didn't work.

I'm still at the same weight I was in January, people.

I lost about 8 pounds of that before the move, I've gained those back.  Booo.....

So, here we are at 166.

I'm not really sure of my goal weight.  I do know my BMI would be "normal" at 154.  I know a lot of people who poo-poo the whole BMI thing, but I think it's pretty darn right.  So, I think my goal is like 145... enough to give me a bit of wiggle room and still be "normal"  So, that's just about 20 pounds to lose.

I've just kinda been thinking, "WHY ISN'T THIS WORKING, it worked LAST time!?"  I'll tell you why it worked last time, I had just done weight watchers.  Once you do it for an extended period of time you just reset your body, your mind, your stomach.

And I need that.  I need a reset button.

This isn't to say that I haven't had a REALLY hard year.  I've had a lot of turmoil.  I GET why I've gained some weight (and 158 was kind of a one day occurrence I was more like 160 most of the time)... I just need to stop.

Enough with the excuses, right Mary? :)

So, this morning I woke up thinking, I am going to start counting points today.  Which was ridiculous, because I was scheduled to work today.  I called into work, and they said they probably wouldn't need me... so, I guess it was kismet, me and points today.

So, who's with me?  I'd like to hear what people like to eat on weight watchers.  Things they think are healthy and taste good.  I'm pretty good on dinner recipes but I need some during the day ideas.  Fruit messes with me, so I try not to eat too much of it (it sends my blood sugar all wacky -- anyone else?).

One two three four five six seven eight nine ten.... {ala sesame street} (fyi, I am at 12 points eaten so far today and I'm gonna have a bowl of popcorn after I edit some awesome photos).
