I'm Fired

Guess who gave in to her urge to go through the Taco Bell drive through today? Yep, I'm so fired.

Of course there has to be one on the way home from my daughter's preschool. It's been taunting me all week and each time it does I think "just get through this intersection and it will be behind me." Well today with my little boy sick with an ear infection and screaming and my daughter having a full on melt down because I picked her up from school instead of her dad I gave in. I caved. And now I have that guilty "I messed up!" feeling. I hate that feeling!

So I thought of what Jillian says (see I told you!) about falling off the bandwagon. She says when you get off track you let your unhealthy choice go, pick yourself up, and get back on track with your next decision. You can choose to say "oh well, I tried" and give it all up or you can say "I didn't make the healthiest choice there, but my next choice will be better" and keep on going!

Yes, that Taco Bell will still be there on Monday taunting me. So how do I say no? How do I put aside the temptation to indulge? I think back to my goals, my reasons for wanting to be healthier and I ask "Is it worth it?" Is that Nachos Bell Grande worth those calories? Worth the extra effort I'm going to have to give to work it off? Worth the unhealthy habit I'm continuing? Or, to use a somewhat annoying saying, nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels. No, it's not worth it. Now I just have to remember that the next time that bell comes in to view!

What are your food demons? Do you recognize them? Is it sweets? Fried foods? Some of these foods are fine in moderation, but how do you fight the urge to over indulge?

Mary, I totally relate to this! McDonalds speaks to me every time I drive by. That and donuts, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cake or anything full of sugary carbs! I am three days into my diet. My husband and I are doing it together and having a friendly competition, which really helps. Good luck!

Hmmm... I don't really get this anymore.
Honestly, figuring out how many points things are when I go out is enough of a deterrant to not even go. :)

Also I have pretty set stuff I eat for lunch now anyway.

My problem is the rare times I DO go out, I want to be a pig. :)

Usually Lance and I have NO problem not eating fast food. It helps that Lance has a heart condition and so we try to eat heart healthy foods. Which doesn't include fast food. It also helps that Lance HATES fast food. So he always has some remark about his arteries being blocked or something.Although, since getting pregnant, All of my cravings are for fast food, and to his credit Lance just says "okay!" and drives right up. But I think great subsitutes is your best offense. But don't fire yourself if you do have a craving. Maybe just share one Nacho Bell Grande with your kids instead of eating it solo? Then just use that as a reason to work out harder at the gym. It happens!Go girlfriend!

Im not good at saying no, the hardest thing to me is the self control... I love donuts, brownies, cookies, Reeces. I snack when I am bored or stressed, so I need to find something to do other than eat during those times. I hear once your body gets healthy, you don't crave the un healthy stuff :)

I am not a big fast food fan. I can eat the same thing at home and it tastes way better for fewer calories. That's not to say I never order Pizza or Panda Express or a deli rotisserie chicken. I hope it gets easier. I find menu planning helps me a ton.

It's ok, Hil. There are going to be caving moments. I find if I just taper off the caloric intake for the rest of the day, it works out. Now, if I've eaten enough calories for two days, that's when I'm screwed! ;)
