Weekly Weigh-In

Well, I missed Weight Watchers on Saturday because we were out at the Walk Now For Autism Speaks event. It was fantastic! Not to mention we walked 1 mile so I got some exercise too. :)

My goal this week is to focus on being more active. I want to workout 1 hour 3 times this week as well as try to be more active in general.

Ways To Accomplish This Goal:

- Train with my amazing trainer one night this week
- Do a yoga video on Netflix, it really is good to do at least once a week
- Walk to the park instead of drive
- Play more Wii games like Just Dance, Wii Active, or Wii Fit as part of my evening activities
- Dust off my 30 Day Shred dvd. We all need a little Jillian in our week. :)

How do you workout and stay active?

Weekly Weigh-In

So today's weekly weigh in was up one pound from my last weekly weigh in making that 12 point something pounds lost since I started. I've had ups and downs throughout these past few months and I wonder where I would be if I had just stuck to it this whole time but that's all part of the journey!

My weekly goal for next weigh in is to lose 3 pounds. I know, that's a lot when you're not a Biggest Loser contestant but I've done it a couple times before so I know it's achievable if I work really hard and track points like crazy.

Ways I'm going to achieve my weekly goal:

- Work out at least 30 minutes each day
- Train with my trainer one night this week and really work hard
- Track every single thing I eat this week
-Meet my fruits/veggies requirements each day, and then some
-Focus on lean protein, healthy snacking, and portion control
-Meet my water intake requirements each day, and then some

I remember when one of the contestants this season on BL had a weight in mind he wanted to achieve at weigh-in. He was so determined to hit this weight that he wrote it in sharpie on his arm and would constantly repeat the number during workouts.

I have to say, I'm kind of tempted to get a sharpie and put a huge 3 on my arm, but I think that goes against the whole idea of being kind to my body. So instead, I'm going to make "3 pounds" my mantra this week. When my workout gets hard and I don't think I can do it I'll say "3 pounds, Mary, 3 pounds" and keep on going. When I'm trying to decide whether to eat a greek yogurt or a bowl of ice cream for a snack I'll say "3 pounds, Mary, 3 pounds."

Do you like making weekly goals? How do you stick to those goals?

I'm Back!

I know, it's been a long time since I last posted. Life got busy and my weight loss efforts got pushed to the back burner.

Thankfully, some of the new healthy habits I've been learning these past few months are sticking because in the 4 weeks I didn't do Weight Watchers I only gained 1 pound! This is huge people. The last time I went off track for a week I gained 1 pound. I'm glad to see I didn't mess up as much as I thought I had.

That being said, I am back and I am re-committing myself to this goal and this journey. I trained with my trainer Tuesday night, as usual, and we came up with consequences that she will inflict (such as extra intervals, etc.) that I will earn if I do not work out twice during the week in addition to training as well as attend the WW meetings. She is one tough trainer and I met my goals this week because even walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes is a heck of a lot easier than what she would make me do next training.

I am going to start posting the weekly weigh in again and this time around I'm adding a weekly goal, something to keep me on track. I'm glad to be back. :)

Size 10.

I started losing weight at a size 20.  By the time I had my baby in 2009 I was down to a 16, but after having her (I actually only gained about 20 pounds with the pregnancy, but it was AFTER the pregnancy that I gained, gained, gained) I went back up to about an 18.

This week, I walked into Kohls and came out with size 10 pants.

I vaguely remember that when I got married I wore an 8 or 10.  Of course, I was a lot skinnier back then, I think I just liked the baggy look.

But I also know I'm in better shape now.

Better shape then when I was 21.

What a great feeling that is!

Honestly, when I watch shows about weight loss and I see people who I think are skinny, they tend to be a size 8.  People, that's just a size or two away... that's totally doable.

I am also 4 pounds away from being "normal".  Take that wii fit!

** In an effort of full disclosure these size 10 pants are pretty tight.  I'm hoping they loosen up a bit with waring, but they totally zipped and I could sit without wincing so I call that a triumph. :)

I Beat It!

I need to do a quick post about my weight today. 158.4 people. That is 4 pounds from a regular bmi. Can you even believe that? I am telling you, this blog is a huge help... That's why i keep up with it even amidst packing and getting jobs. :)

If only I could buy myself new clothes, except I would have to move them....

Soothing with Food

I didn't even weigh in today.  We were busy trying to get to Mormon Helping Hands... and frankly, I wasn't too excited to see what number was going to appear on the scale.

The longer the job hunt continues the less firm I am being with my diet.  I just want little pieces of happy.  Most likely with cheese and mayo, or pepperoni and sausage.  And a lot of it.

So, I need some help.  NOW is the time for the support ladies.  When you are truly unhappy, stressed, tired, feeling unloved, what do you do?  How do you stop yourself from eating an entire foot long?

I just need to remember NOT to get the footlong.  And to split it and put it in the fridge.  I mean a little mayo isn't going to get me fat.  But a footlong of it, often, will.

I did weigh before my shower this afternoon.  163, not near as bad as I thought it would be.

I do notice my body isn't happy with the changes though.  I have felt some kidney pains lately, and I know my body's happier when I have less fat and more fruit and veggies.  I love that my body knows what's good for it now.  Even if I don't love my body. :)

It's Not Better

Silly life, you think once you lose weight EVERYTHING will be better.  You'll shop for clothes with glee, swimsuits will magically fit just right.
Rrrrrr.... {wrong buzzer, for thoser who don't speak consonants}

Regardless, I needed a new swimsuit.  Something fierce.  My other one is about 4 sizes too large.  AND with a toddler clinging onto me I am likely to have a wardrobe malfunction, if you know what i mean.  And I know you do. :)

Anyway, I decided to just buy 400 dollars worth of swimsuits from Kohls, have them shipped to my home and decide from there.  350$ of those are being returned, if not more. :)  I am SO glad I did this.  Easy to try them on during naptime and just get it over with!

I have one piece of advice that has been really important lately -- find out what kind of bra suits you best.  I, apparently, have boobs that take an "A" shaped bra better then the other shapes.  Does that make sense?  there are some bras that look more like a d -- where the strap is more to the side, and that just doesn't work for me.  This was really handy when I was looking for suits, and after I narrowed it down with that information, I picked out about 6 of them in differing sizes since I had no idea what would fit.  I ended-up with this one:

with a different bottom.  I don't like how that bow works with the top of my suit, usually.

Do you see what I mean about my bra being an A shape?  Who knew?

Anyway, it's just funny how sizes fit on top and bottom.  I must admit this one's just a teeny bit small right now, but I'm hoping to lose some more before swimsuit season and it looks just fine now.  I am just sure it'd fit a little better 10 pounds from now. :)

Anyway, it's just a reminder that the body you have just gets smaller.  I still have hips to hide and tiny boobs.  Those aren't changing any time soon.

I will say that being able to pick from the "womens" instead of "plus" does make a difference as far as selection.  It's nice to have a lot to pick from.

Happy swimsuit season.

P.S.  I also got a rash gaurd.  Think I'll use it?  Seems like it'd be nice for pool days when I am not in the mood to sunscreen my back every few minutes. :)
