Back to the Lovers

When Lara and I brainstormed this blog, one of the main things we wanted to do was to involve our husbands.  This has several "con's"
1.  Husbands lose faster than us, and that makes us feel sad.
2.  Husbands can eat crap more often than we can, and that makes it hard.
3.  We feel like we're more concerned about health aspects than our husbands.

But there are also many "pro's"
1.  We want healthy husbands who can support us in the manner we are acustomed to.
2.  It's nice to have a "teamate" that lives in our same house.
3.  No one can be more of a support than a spouse.

So, how are you going to include your husband?

My current plan, once Drew and I lose 20 pounds (combined) we get a wii fit.  He really wants one.  I haven't seen him drinking soda nearly as much and he's actually eating 3 meals.  I think we plan to have "treats" at each level of loss.  Actually, we're counting inches AND pounds.  Of course, I have a complicated algorithym of numbers which I graph out weekly and mothly, but I won't bore you...  Currently it's all about bribary.  I am hoping once he sees some loss and starts enjoying a healthier livestyle we'll progress.

What's your plan?  Do you want to get your husband involved?

Oh my husband. The man is thin...it's in his genes, however, I have spent the last 6 years listening to him complain about the extra four pounds he has to lose.

No...I won't be encouraging him to lose weight. Although, I am happy to report that I weigh less than he does...quit an accomplishment for me!

I am however trying to get him involved in my weight loss.

Usually I really need Joel to be a support. Because if he isn't, he makes tons of treats and I can't have that in the house.

He's in this time, after realizing he's gained about 20 pounds over the last 3 or 4 years. He's lost weight before on Weight Watchers, and we still have the stuff, so he's doing that. And, more importantly, he's going off sugar for January at least. By the end of the month, I will be able to handle having more treats around, so he can make some in moderation!

He's not as good as I have been about weighing in on Wii Fit every day, but he has lost a bit. :)

Like Denise, my husband is also thin. neither of us has too much to loose, but I'd like to tone up and he wants to bulk up. Whatever your fitness goals are, its WAY easier to have your spouse on board. We sit down on Sunday nights and plan our menu for the week. That is the MOST helpful thing he can do with me! We work out separately, but being on the same page about what we put in our mouths makes all the difference. Plus I don't have to wonder at 11:45 when I'm already starving, what we're going to have for lunch! I don't have the willpower to do it without him, so my hat goes off to those women who do! Oh, and we also have these checklists that we mark off whatever we've eaten so that we make sure we get enough of the right kind of calories. It's no fun, but doing it together makes it better!
